Car accident proves deadly after driver runs stop sign

Traffic lights and stop signs are placed at intersections to assist with controlling the flow of traffic and helping to keep drivers safe. Failing to adhere to a stop sign can be hazardous and may increase the odds that a potentially dangerous car accident will occur. A recent two-vehicle crash involving similar circumstances has reportedly claimed the life of an 18-year-old woman in Tennessee.

The incident is said to have taken place just before 11 p.m. on a recent Friday when a driver reportedly failed to come to a halt at a stop sign. Upon entering the intersection, his vehicle pulled directly into the path of a nearby car, subsequently causing a collision. The impact of the crash reportedly caused a passenger in the other car to be ejected from the vehicle, and she was pronounced dead at the scene soon thereafter.

Police have also advised that the driver of the second car suffered injuries in the accident. The driver who caused the accident and a passenger in his vehicle were also injured, but the specifics regarding their conditions remain unclear. An investigation into the incident has been initiated and police have stated that charges are pending against the man.

The death of a loved one can be difficult to accept, especially when it comes as the result of another person's negligence. Those who lose a loved one in a car accident could choose to consult with an experienced attorney for guidance on their available options with which to pursue accountability. An attorney in Tennessee can examine the accident and assist a client in pursuing restitution through a wrongful death claim against the party deemed culpable.
